Two killed in crash in Rompin

KUANTAN: A man and his stepbrother were killed after their car was hit by a multipurpose vehicle at KM122 of Jalan Kuantan-Johor Bharu in Rompin, near here, yesterday.

Rompin district police chief DSP Azari Miskon said Naimzah Lazim, 27, who was driving a Perodua Myvi, and his nine-year-old stepbrother, Andrechia (repeat Andrechia) Ali, died on the spot of serious head and body injuries in the 4pm incident.

Naimzah’s younger brother Lizan, 16, who was in the front passenger seat, suffered light injuries, he told reporters here.

“The crash is believed to have occurred when Naimzah’s Kuantan-bound car was rammed by a Toyota Innova, driven by a 19-year-old man, which went out of control and strayed into the opposite lane,” he said.

Azari said the Toyota Innova driver and his 74-year-old grandmother, who was on the front seat, were injured and admitted to the Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan here.
