Manchester United signed Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in January 2018
Alexis Sanchez and Jonny Bairstow dominate the headlines in today’s newspaper back pages.
The Daily Express, Daily Star and Daily Mirror all lead on the future of Manchester United forward Alexis. After a disappointing 16 months at Old Trafford since signing from Arsenal Alexis looks likely to be moved on this summer.
It’s claimed that United are desperate to get rid and will be prepared to pay the Chilean star £12m not to play for them next season.
Italian side Inter Milan are reportedly interested in taking Alexis on a season-long loan and United will pay half of his £500,000-a-week wages to send him to Serie A.
Bairstow inspires
In cricket England cruised to victory over Pakistan in yesterday’s one-day international (ODI) in Bristol.
“Bairstow’s big blast” is The Daily Telegraph’s headline as the opener hit an inspired 128 in England’s second-best ODI run chase.
City hit back
There’s more fall-out from the reports that Manchester City are facing a one-season ban from the Uefa Champions League.
Man City are “under siege” says Metro’s back page but the Premier League title winners are defiant over Uefa’s financial probe.
The Etihad club also believe there’s a “vendetta” against them, The Sun reports. City think that rivals Manchester United and the Euro elite are out to get them.
